[ Probably. Go live your best life, Allura. Which, apparently, includes milkshakes.
Vanitas, on the other hand, is kind of relieved to have gotten more right on this round. Please let the score be high enough at the end of this to merit these people leaving him alone!
He looks up though as Allura asks the question. Despite his scowl, he looks as lost as she is on this one. ]
No idea. I have no clue what a missionary even is.
[ The politeness is certainly appreciated. He looks familiar in ways that she doesn't want to voice, but she does smile and offer another nod of agreement. ]
You may and I would be happy to do so. Have you travelled much into the quarantined area? It goes rather deep. We may run into others as well.
[ How is it that the universal time standards seem to be lost here? Well, almost universal, she supposes. Allura pouts slightly--though she wouldn't see it that way--casting a glance towards the person beside her. He certainly looks Altean, but looks can be deceiving, and she knows what has happened to the last of the Alteans.
(To find the colony here would be a shock...) ]
What? No, of course not. A dobosh is a unit of time that is around sixty ticks.
[No, that explains nothing, weirdo face-painting elf!! He opens his mouth to say as much - because who measures time in bugs? Especially gross bloodsucking ones??? - when she announces that the guards are leaving.
If this is their only chance, then he's going to take it.]
Fuck it sure, sixty bugs is a doboski or whatever. Great. Let's go.
[As soon as the way is open, Taako slips out and starts making a beeline for the roped off area. For his height, he's pretty good at keeping low to the ground and slips by just as the guards move out of sight, sliding under the barrier. Sometimes being an elf came in handy as hell with those dexterity rolls. He doesn't check that the other elf is with him - he assumes she's got this in the bag - and starts peeling back the flap of the tents that keep the Big Mystery™ hidden from view.
What he sees inside? Can only be described in two words:]
[He blinks at the new term, but the he thinks he gets the gist of what she means. And then he smirks, ready to take on the current challenge.]
You're right. This is our chance to prove ourselves! It'll all be worth it in the end. This is getting me fired up... I'm ready to investigate the heck out of those vines!
[ Ah...not quite the subject that she would like to get into so soon, but it is a fact, however much it is a sad one. Though it had been over a decaphoeb since she came to understand the fate of her world, Allura isn't sure she'll ever fully get over it. ]
...Perhaps the ravages of war have not fully hit this part of the universe, but Altea was destroyed nearly ten-thousand years ago.
Thank you. [She does appreciate it, more than she can say. Ren's out here somewhere, if she knows him, but trying to catch up to him will do her less than no good if the plants take her down before she gets there.]
Anything that looks like it's about to encroach on a building, and otherwise, the thickest growth possible, since that will take down more of the threat at once.
[Ren gives a bouncy little nod at that, and starts to maneuver the person back the way he came, focusing his attention forward. Hopefully Allura is a good enough eye out that he doesn't have to worry too much about getting jumped from behind or something.]
This is pretty annoying timing for all of us, but I guess from what that scientist guy said, it's kind of our fault too...
[Their fault because of the whole weird Chroma thing that none of them really understood at this point, but still.]
[ Sixty bugs? What is he on about? She doesn't have time to frown--well, she does and she did, but enough to make a point of it. Allura makes her way quickly across the open area into the evacuation zone, quiet and light on her feet in her flight suit.
Just in time, too, as the next patrol unit comes in just as they manage to get out of sight. Whew!
But her new companion is already making headway and Allura has to peek around him cautiously. ]
What is it?
[ Allura raises her brows. It's a little warm inside the tent and has a very peculiar odor. But what she sees isn't quite what she expects. ]
I do hope that these don't have any regenerative capabilities. If Chroma is really to blame, I do worry that our interference may invigorate them, but we will just have to see how the vines react. Let's begin at the perimeter and carve a proper path for the evacuees, shall we?
On the other hand, if it is, then the locals may already have some idea of how to counter the rapid growth. I'm sure they've been working on that as well since it first appeared. [There, though, she'll have to take their word for it. She didn't want to get involved until it started resembling downtown Shibuya as it was when she arrived here.]
[The last time Taako came up against a shrubby-like vine? It tried to eat him and he's absolutely done with being eaten by plants. That is not his deal, never will be, and for hell's sake, it is definitely not how he wants to start his life, however temporary, on a new planet. Taako grimaces, his ears dipping low against his head.]
It's a pain in the ass, if my experience has anything to say about it. Should we just burn this and get it over with?
[Because people, even alien people who had a weird fixation with the moons, didn't go cordoning off plants if they were safe.]
[ Luckily, she is--following him not far behind, but continuously scanning the area as they make their way forward. A real boon is that the farther they travel from the center of the chaos, the thinner the foliage gets. ]
It also isn't our fault that we're here in the first place.
[ Fear that the "Moonblessed" will be blamed, in the end, is very real, but Allura has to remind herself that neither parties asked for this. ]
If it is related to the surge in Chroma due to our presence in the end, then we can only help to mitigate the damage. No one asked for this, after all.
