[He blinks at the new term, but the he thinks he gets the gist of what she means. And then he smirks, ready to take on the current challenge.]

You're right. This is our chance to prove ourselves! It'll all be worth it in the end. This is getting me fired up... I'm ready to investigate the heck out of those vines!

[ His enthusiasm is certainly a boon that she won't put to waste. It brings a smile to her face even if she's in business-mode right now. ]

That's good to hear. Before we delve too deep, we should introduce ourselves. My name is Allura.

[ She extends her hand. ]

[trenchdoting]

Right! [He reaches back to deliver a hearty handshake.] And my name's Dick Gumshoe. It's good to meet you, Miss Allura!

It's a pleasure. Do you prefer "Dick" or "Mister Gumshoe"?

[trenchdoting]

Dick's fine. Heck, you can call me whatever you want. [He smirks.] Just don't call me late to dinner!

[princessences]

[ ...Oh goodness. That's...a terrible joke. And also the kind of thing her father would have enjoyed. ]

If we make quick work of this, then I shouldn't have to.

[ That's funny too, right? ]

Come, let's be quick and silent.

[ She motions for Dick to fall into step with her ]

[trenchdoting]

[It does get a genuine grin out of him at least!

And then he nods along at her request. He might not be the stealthiest person, but he'll try. He responds quietly.]

Sure thing, Miss Allura. You can count on me. [He hunches over a bit in order to stand out less and moves following Allura's lead.]

[ And it turns out that she certainly can. He's quiet enough that they are able to travel deeper into the restricted area and it begins to become more apparent as to why.

Vines twist up over scaffoldings and light posts, start to dance up the sides of buildings and reach out across the street.

Allura frowns as they come up to a particularly large vine. ]

We've only been here a short while, but this does seem unusual...

[trenchdoting]

[He sneaks along behind her and then looks up in awe at the how widespread the vines are.]

Whoa! Definitely. I don't think there's any vines that can grow this quickly! I'm no vine expert, but it doesn't look like any kind I recognize, either!

Nor I, though that is hardly surprising when we're on an alien world.

[ That's the biggest problem--how are they supposed to know what is typical for this place? ]

But they wouldn't have quarantined this area if something weren't amiss.

[ Allura steps over to it cautiously before leaning over the railing. Her eyes widen as she takes in the whole of the plant that it's connected to. ]

...It's huge.

It sure is...!

[Gumshoe stands near her as he looks on with a sense of awe!]

You're right, though. I don't get why they'd block it off. Sure, it's huge, but it doesn't look dangerous or anything! If something like this grew in my backyard, I'd be selling tickets! [He jokes with a lazy smile.]
