i do now. i didn't at home - max is the only one who remembers anything when she rewinds. i had these sort of feelings? like... memories of a dream or something is the best way i can describe it. without even really realizing that's what they were.

[ Which comes with it's own pain - for Max in particular, and for Chloe when it came down to it. Never getting to know that she had people who cared about her, that Max still loved her, all because she'd forget the whole week.

But she doesn't want to linger on that. It always ends up making her feel sick. ]

but this place... well, you can probably guess how much they like to use that shit against me as often as possible. so they didn't let me forget for too long.

Of course it would. This place is very adept at finding the worst things to haunt us with.

[ That's actually something she's never had to think about before. She stares at the question for a while, so that she doesn't just give some flippant remark to it like all her instincts want to. ]

i'd rather know. the alternative would mean that max would have to deal with all of it alone. and i don't ever want that for her again.

it's a shitty thing to live through, so i can understand why they wouldn't. i wish so many people weren't finding out first hand here themselves.

That we can learn nothing from this place makes the suffering experienced here all the more pointless.

But...I will take your caution seriously. i am aware of how certain events may drastically alter the course of time, although I'd anticipated it would cause a split and branch off into a new reality rather than continuously altering the same one.

[ She'd accepted that the Shiro of her time would be too late, but perhaps this Shiro could be spared the ordeal. ]

maybe things work different if we leave here by choice. no one's done that yet, so we don't really know, right?

maybe it would when you're not messing with rewinding the same timeline. i don't know. i just don't want to see anything worse happen to you guys just because you're trying to make things better.

No, we don't. There are so many things that remain unconfirmed and untested in this place. To be honest, I'm not sure where to begin with many of them if they are possible at all.

That being said, I can't say. My only experience with a parallel timeline wasn't exactly positive, either. While we may be from different universes, I can't imagine the laws that govern them would be drastically different. Still...

I wouldn't want to put anyone I love in that position. Even with the best of intentions.
