[It's some normal time of day. Probably afternoon. After someone hasn't been around the apartment for a while. He'd just sort of stepped out, but they're both adults, they're both capable people. There's no reason to constantly report to each other every errand. Plus... you know... he didn't want to worry her.]

[Still, that was a long... long appointment. He probably made it longer by virtue of being himself.]

[He should check and see if she's home, but--]

Allura? Do we have any juice? [As he just. Puts his head in the fridge. Like an adult.]

[ No, there really is no need to check in for every little thing. They are both responsible adults and unless there is a clear threat at work, she would expect him back at the apartment at the usual time, unless he was out on patrol.

Allura is there, having run some errands of her own and returned not too long ago. She's been making it a habit to collect newspapers and go over any articles or updates that could offer a greater understanding to the place. It's those she's sorting through when she hears the door open. ]

[ After coming to the realization of everything that she's done and knowing Lance is one of her victims? Him disappearing...really the last thing she wants right now.

But more than that, it's made clear that no place in Deerington is truly safe. So worrying about her boys? Upped by a factor of ten at least. ]

[ A large stack of fairly nicely wrapped gift boxes are delivered to the house, carefully marked with name tags so that everyone can know which is which.

There's a fairly decent sized one marked for everyone - a large portrait of the current Voltron family inside.

In Allura's box, there's this treasure of a sweater, a package of Oreos, and some tiny sweaters for her mice friends. ]

[ Talking to Lance at least gave her more perspective and after a few days to sort of... calm down, she's realized not saying anything might be worse than having just blown up in the first place.

Plus all the ghosts are making her worried no matter how angry she is or was or will continue to be, so there's that. ]

[ Admittedly, she's a little surprised to hear from Chloe. Allura had assumed a line had been crossed that shouldn't have. In the midst of everything that's happen to Chloe recently, Allura knows she's...pushed in ways that she shouldn't have.

Apparently she hasn't grown out of that, herself.

To say she's happy to see that simple 'hey' would be an understatement. But she's cautious. So much as happened. And she's had a lot to think about. ]

[It's sometime after things have settled. After he came back to himself. Made sure it hadn't hurt the one who saved him. The memories are... they're vague at best. Probably sure to be nightmares in the future, because that's really just his luck. His hands ache, there's unexplained bruising all over. But none of that is important right now.]

[What is important is the image of Allura and dark water. Hearing her voice begging him not to do something.]

[And it makes... it makes asking this question all the more difficult. More than it should be. He'd know if she -- wouldn't he? Someone would have said something or... they would have told him. Like last time.]

[Still. The message is very brief. And he feels anxiety prickle down his limbs the entire time he waits for a response.]

[ She hadn't seen nor heard of Shiro since he left her by the lakeside. It was pure luck that Hunk and Peter had managed to find her when they did, but all she'd wanted to do was find him. But he hadn't been bent on destruction like she had, not hunting wildly in the streets. No, his movements had been slow and methodical. She wasn't surprised that he managed to vanish and continue his self-imposed penance in the shadows.

She was worried. She was extremely worried. Allura only left her fluid by her bedside so that she could bathe. But once the screen flashed and Platt saw what it was, he squeaked loudly at the other mice. Suddenly there was a furry frenzy bursting into the bathroom. ]

What? What is it?

[ Her eyes widened as a chant of squeaks that translated to "Shiro" came all at once. Allura scrambled out of the bathtub, leaving a dangerous puddle behind her, before doubling back to grab a towel so she didn't make a mess of everything. The world around them was still disgusting outside, so she wanted to keep her space as clean as possible.

That leaves her to where she is now, staring down at her fluid like she isn't quite sure she believes it. ]

Shiro! Are YOU alright? Where are you? Where have you been?

[ It's bitterly cold outside, but at least the streets aren't a literal bloody mess anymore. When Matt shuffles into the flower shop, he's all decked out for winter with coat and boots and toboggan hat pulled down over his ears. What can be seen of his face is a little red, chapped no doubt by the stinging wind--the rest is covered, wrapped in the layers of a knitted scarf which he tugs down to smile at her. ]

Hey, Princess! How are you today?

[ The Flower Shop has become something of a refuge of normalcy in a very strange place. Starting out a year prior as a nursery attendant with anything but a green thumb (which she had learned did not actually mean having a thumb the color green), the fact that she worked her way up to management felt like a natural progression. A "day job" is hardly the priority in a place like Deerington, but checking inventory and payroll are something of a mundane distraction from the horrors that surround them.

And honestly, spending time in the nursery is just calming. So yes, a refuge.

But she does take care of the front when they're short-staffed or if she has employees on break, which she does at the moment. Allura is sorting receipts when she hears the bell to the front door ring. A practiced greeting is prepared, but Matt beats her to it. She instantly looks pleased beyond her customer service demeanor. It's nice seeing friends. ]

Hello, Matt.

[ She smiles, glad when the door shuts behind him. (It's got to stay warm inside for the plants...and the Alteans.) ]

I'm as well as one can be. And yourself?

[ Several fuzzy heads poke up behind the register. ]

[He's been gone from the house for two nights already. The first night wasn't really by choice since Moira wanted to keep an eye on him and the second night, he was just... trying to figure out what to say. Allura's the hardest to find the words for because he feels like he constantly lets her down and he cares so much about how she sees him. But he owes her an explanation.]

[ She has noticed and, yes, she has been concerned. Her first instinct was to message him immediately and ask him if he was planning on returning, but she knows that's just her own frustration speaking. Everyone had promised that they would try to stay connected. She has to believe in that.

And her patience does pay off, however difficult it can be for her at times. She doesn't see his message immediately, but when she checks her fluid as she gets ready to stop by the flower shop, there's a sigh of relief.

It's not exactly a happy message, but he's saying something this time. That's a promise kept. ]

Thank you for letting me know. But why do you have to stay somewhere else? Is everything alright?

A gift fit for a Princess (At the Haus of Maus)

[Hunk had waited until a time when Allura was out of the house so he could work on her gift, and when she returns, the kitchen reeks of cookies, and a little peppermint. He presents her with a moderately sized box lined with parchment paper and filled with cookies.]

I made you a little something for the holidays, as a thank you.

[ It isn't difficult, Allura does tend to work regularly and work often, so her schedule is predictable. Having Hunk at the house again does bring a bit of light in an otherwise gloomy situation, one that she wouldn't trade for the world. Of course, getting to smell whatever he's prepared for them is a nice surprise each time as well. She can't always (often) place what he's making, but she's willing to try most things.

This, though, smells delicious.

Allura accepts the box and lights up when she peers inside. ]

For me? That's so sweet of you! These smell lovely, Hunk.
