[ Chuchule even gives a little mouse chuckle at that. ]

But I'm glad you're feeling better, Shiro. You certainly deserve it.

[He's never going to get tired of seeing her look happy. In any capacity. He wishes she could be learning idioms and things in a better setting, but... they'll take what they can get.]

[He reaches out, rubbing Chuchule's ears.]

I -- [I wouldn't go that far, but he bites it back.] Thanks. Thanks to all of you being here.

[ Allura shakes her head as she picks up the bottle. ]

It's the least we can do. I'll get you some more water. Is there anything else you would like? Are you hungry?

No, no, I'm okay. Water's fine.

[It's hard to be hungry when 1) you're nauseated, and 2) there's a food shortage. He can't ask for food if he's just going to waste it staring at it.]

[ Allura nods with a smile. ]

[ Because she can just round the corner and fill up his water in her own bathroom. Much shorter than going back to the kitchen. So it's only a moment when she returns, placing the bottle next to his bed once again. ]

[He'll be in the same place when she comes back. Looking up at her with a slight smile. The chair he's using as a nightstand swings side to side briefly as she sets the bottle down -- maybe he should think about getting an actual table...]

Thank you. [He makes a move to grip her hand as she sets it down, forcing his own to be steady. To function like he tells it to.] I know I've said it a hundred times recently... [But he still means it. He means it deeply.]

How could I mind such a helpful roommate?

[Chuchule is welcome here as often as she wants. So there. The other mice can come too, if they don't hate him.]

[ The motion itself is a little surprising, but Allura only hesitates a moment before she turns her wrist so she can properly grasp his hand in return, then cups it with her other. ]

There's nothing you need to thank me for. We're family.

[ The family she hadn't thought she would have again.

Chuchule gives a happy squeak and runs up onto Shiro's shoulder, giving the side of his jaw one big nuzzle. ]

[Her hand is warm as always. And it's easy to take solace in. Something real, something solid and safe. He squeezes her fingers as best he can.]

Yeah. Yeah, we are. Family's always looking out for each other, huh-- hey...!

[The latter in response to tiny mouse whiskers against his skin. There's no offense to it, either. Just surprise, and something dangerously close to a laugh.]

[ Allura finds herself laughing as well. It's easy with scenes like this. The moments of happiness that they can capture in this place are precious. ]

She says she's happy that she knows you, Shiro.

The feeling is mutual. I'm -- really happy she decided to get to know me better.

[He kind of loves you, Chuchule. You're the favorite. Don't tell the other mice.]

[ She will absolutely tell the other mice. Chuchule basically preens with this.

Allura chuckles. ]

Alright, you keep watch over him, Chuchule.

[ She turns her attention back to Shiro. ]

I'll leave you be so you can get some more rest. I'll be in my room, so don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything.

[ Like being bench-pressed, apparently. ]

[He'll give the mouse another rub behind the ears.]

Allura leans down to give Chuchule a little pat on the head as well, before she pulls back entirely. ]

Good. Now, rest up.

[ And with that she leaves the mouse to dutifully attend to Shiro's needs. ]
